The effects of various nutrients on iron absorption

Vitamin C- containing foods and meats, have a positive effect on the absorption of iron from plant foods when eaten at the same meal.

In contrast, non-heme iron absorption is inhibited by phytates, polyphenols (for example the tannins found in tea) and calcium.

So mixing your foods correctly will improve your nutrients intake.
